Optical Diamond Ultra Precision Tool

Diamond Lens Mold Core Turning Tools

Diamond lens mold core turning tools are widely used in the precision machining of various optical lens mold cores. They ensure that molds for convex, concave, and Fresnel lenses achieve highly accurate radii of curvature, along with excellent reproducibility and stability.

Our diamond turning tools feature a minimum tip angle of 15°, a tool arc precision up to R200 mm, and waviness controlled within 10 nm. Even for tools with large-radius arcs, waviness can be effectively controlled within 100 nm. When machining parabolic surfaces, waviness can reach 30 nm, and radius of curvature errors are maintained within 200 nm. Under high-power microscopy, the cutting edge appears flawless and smooth, with front and rear cutter surface roughness as low as 2 nm, ensuring exceptional cutting performance and surface quality in ultra-precision applications.

Key Features of Diamond Turning Tools:

1. Exceptional hardness and wear resistance, ensuring long tool life.

2. Ultra-sharp cutting edges for extremely thin cuts.

3. Flawless cutting edge under high-power microscopy, capable of producing ultra-smooth mirror finishes.

Tool Specification and Selection Guidelines:

  • ·  Choose tool parameters to match the specific processed product.

  • ·  Select the tool holder size based on clamping requirements.

Recommended Applications:

  • ·  R0.05 tool: Ideal for mobile phone lens mold cores.

  • ·  R0.01 tool: Recommended for automotive and TV lens molds.

  • ·  R0.01/0.02 tool: Suitable for flash lamp mold cores.

Infrared Material Processing Diamond Turning Tools

Infrared material processing diamond turning tools are specially designed for the precision machining of infrared lens materials. The primary materials include germanium, silicon, zinc selenide (ZnSe), and chalcogenide glass. Due to the specific properties of these materials, tools with a negative rake angle are used for infrared crystals, while 0-degree rake angle tools are suitable for machining aluminum mirrors and other non-ferrous metals.

Key Features:

1. Exceptional hardness and strong wear resistance, ensuring long tool life.

2. Flawless cutting edges capable of producing ultra-smooth mirror surfaces.

3. Excellent anti-adhesion with workpiece materials, low friction, and superior surface integrity.

4. Available with cone-controlled or cylinder-controlled flanks for different machining requirements.

Specification and Selection Guidelines:

  • ·  Choose tool parameters that match the specific material and lens design.

  • ·  Select the tool holder size according to clamping requirements.

Recommended Tool Selection:

  • ·  0-degree rake angle tools: Ideal for non-ferrous metals such as aluminum.

  • ·  Negative 25-degree rake angle tools: Recommended for infrared crystal materials such as germanium and zinc selenide.

Diamond Tool Flank Design and Applicable Lathes

Depending on different machining requirements, the flank of our diamond turning tools can be designed as cylindrical or conical.

The tools are compatible with ultra-precision single-point diamond lathes, which are essential for optical diamond ultra-precision machining. High-precision machine tools form the foundation for achieving superior machining accuracy, and advances in tool accuracy have paralleled the development of these precision machines.

Tool Clamping and Maintenance:

1. Handle tools with care during clamping; the tool tip must not make contact with any surface.

2. Clean the cutter head using a foam swab dipped in industrial alcohol.

3. After disassembly, store the tool in its designated toolbox. Avoid leaving tools exposed to prevent damage to the cutting edge.

Quality Assurance:

More SuperHard provides a waviness inspection report and cutting-edge inspection images for every tool before shipment. Non-contact measurement ensures the tool tip remains undamaged. Inspection data includes:

  • ·  Radius of the tool tip arc

  • ·  Included angle of the tool tip

  • ·  Smoothness of front and rear tool surfaces

  • ·  Arc waviness

For high-precision molding applications, especially in industries with strict arc curvature requirements, our detailed arc waviness inspection ensures that the tool meets the most demanding machining standards.
